Fiona McKenzie - CEO and Co-founder

Fiona McKenzie started her career as an East Ayrshire teacher, spending 16 years as Principal Teacher of Music at Grange Academy, Kilmarnock. In 2006, she left teaching to launch the social enterprise Centrestage Music Theatre CIC with Paul Mathieson and built the theatre and teaching space without public or grant funding.

This was followed by the launch of the charity Centrestage Communities Ltd in 2008. Anyone, regardless of age, background or experience is welcome to attend Centrestage activities and the CS team currently delivers activities, projects and performances to over 2500 members of the community weekly within Centrestage and in the wider community across Ayrshire and beyond.

Fiona won the Association of Scottish Businesswomen award for Outstanding Contribution in 2014 followed by the ASB Woman of Inspiration Award for 2015 and recently picked up the Unsung Hero Award at the West FM, Cream of Ayrshire Awards 2018. Fiona was also awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International and is an Entrepreneurial Founder at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Strathclyde Business School.
