Job Description

The Role…

The sound assistant is responsible to the head of Sound. The post holder will participate in the effective management and delivery of our theatres sound service. The post holder will work extremely close with the head of sound and will undertake the position of sound 2 during shows and carry out all mic changes and adjustments when required. The post holder will also assist with band/ orchestra set ups and operate sound for performances when the head of sound isn’t available.

Key responsibilities

  • Participating in the effective delivery
  • Working as an effective member of the technical team
  • Rigging band set ups
  • Micing and De-micing performers during shows and rehearsal period.
  • Have fun.


Essential Skills:

  • Basic knowledge with working on digital and analogue sound equipment (in house sound desk is Allen & Heath GLD 112)
  • Understanding on how to create a mic plot and how it works
  • The ability to work at quick pace
  • Effectively change radio mics during a show if there is a problem or a mic swap
  • Basic knowledge on microphone positioning



  • Atleast two years working in a theatre type industry
  • Qualification in technical theatre or sound engineering
