Hours: 20 hours - Par time, flexible hours available
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

The Role
Areas of Responsibility
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Ensure best practice approach to recruitment, supporting managers and directors by ensuring procedures and policies are followed consistently; taking responsibility for initial recording and shortlisting of applicants; reviewing the current job advertisements; and promoting best practice interview techniques.
- Review and develop staff induction processes and advise and support Team Leaders and Managers with its consistent application throughout the organisation.
- Experience of developing and improving staff and volunteer recruitment processes.
2. Employee Relations & Performance
- Provide advice and guidance to Team Leaders and Managers on performance issues and assist in the identification of options and appropriate measures to ensure that all staff work to an expected performance standard.
- To assist Directors and Managers in the initial stages of Employment Relations, investigating complex disciplinary, grievances, bullying, absence, and capability cases to ensure decisions taken are reasonable, consistent and in accordance with CentreStage Policies and Employment Law.
- Act as the day-to-day liaison between CentreStage and its legal HR advisors.
3. Staff Development & Wellbeing
- Advise and support all staff on how to apply ‘people first’ best practice throughout CentreStage and share learning as part of continuous improvement principles.
- Support and advise managers with staff development, nurturing and people management skills and techniques to ensure best practice is applied consistently across all departments.
- Chair the staff forum, CentreStage Voice, developing and implementing staff welfare and support, monitoring staff wellbeing and using agreed goals to report back on initiatives to the HR Sub-committee.
- Ensure all staff are empowered to feel they are key stakeholders within CentreStage, enabling them to provide constructive feedback.
- Take the lead on the Staff Satisfaction and Engagement Survey, providing a report and action plan for the HR sub-committee and supporting Team Leaders and Managers in the implementation of the plan.
- Take operational responsibility for the digital HR system, including using it to ensure all mandatory training is completed by relevant staff.
- Maintain the learning and development programme and undertake training needs analysis annually.
- Work with Health and Safety lead to ensure all H&S training requirements are met.
4. Policy, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure safeguarding policies are fully implemented and maintained.
- Annually review the HR policies and procedures to ensure they remain in line with current employment law while promoting best practice; regularly review all HR policies and procedures, proposing new policies and procedures to the Senior Leadership Team, where appropriate.
- Up-to-date knowledge of HR employment law and best practice.
- Experience of drafting policies and procedures that reflect HR best practice.
5. Culture, Values & Internal Communication
- Work with the senior leadership team to ensure the organisational values, Hope, Inclusion, Aspiration and Joy reflect best practice, ensuring these are prioritised and communicated to all staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Support colleagues in the communications team with regular internal communications.
- To develop and maintain a good working knowledge of issues affecting CentreStage and promote the organisation at relevant events.



Person Specification
Skills and experience
- Degree level and a member of CIPD.
- Experience of operating at a senior level in an HR function.
- Up-to-date knowledge of HR employment law and best practice.
- Experience of leading cultural change within an organisation, ensuring buy-in at all levels.
- Experience of developing and/or implementing an equality, diversity, and inclusion strategy.
- Experience of developing and improving staff and volunteer recruitment processes.
- Experience of drafting policies and procedures that reflect HR best practice.
- Experience of developing and implementing a staff welfare programme that helps staff and volunteers feel valued, supported, and engaged.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills.
